Depression
Major depressive disorder (MDD) or clinical depression involves one or more episodes of intense depression that lasts two or more weeks. MDD can result in various emotional and physical problems and is often accompanied by irritability, low energy, decreased concentration, sleep changes, weight gain or loss, feelings of helplessness, worthlessness or guilt, and sometimes suicidal tendencies. Pervasive depressive disorder or dysthymia is a longer-term depressive condition (lasting two or more years).
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
An anxiety disorder that develops from witnessing or experiencing traumatic or frightening life event(s). Often PTSD involves intense fear, helplessness, stress, intrusive thoughts, nightmares or flashbacks about the incident, recurrent distress/anxiety, and avoidance of similar situations.
Anxiety Disorders
This includes intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations. It is characterized by repeated episodes of sudden feelings of intense anxiety, panic, fear or terror that reach a peak within minutes (panic attacks). Feelings of anxiety and panic interfere with daily activities and are difficult to control. Symptoms of anxiety include feeling nervous, feelings of impending danger, trouble sleeping and concentrating, and physical signs such as increased heart rate, sweating or trembling.

Behavioural Activation Therapy
A form of psychological treatment for depression that involves using behaviours to influence emotional state. It focuses on practicing certain positive behaviours, reinforcing activities, scheduling, monitoring, and problem-solving.
Schema Therapy
A type of talk therapy that focuses on belief systems (or schemas) that is effective for a range of problems, including past trauma and how it is contributing to current stressors.

This structured program is lead by psychologists working with clients to implement and practice daily skills (e.g., relaxation, imagery, sleep hygiene) and track sleep record data. This is an effective program to help the client achieve stable and sustained improvements in sleep.
